Police in Fort William are appealing for information following the discovery of a man’s body near Ballachulish on Thursday morning.
The body of a 52-year-old man was found close to the cycle path just south of the Ballachulish roundabout at around 10.25am on Thursday, 6 November 2025.
Officers say the death is being treated as unexplained but not believed to be suspicious.
The man’s next of kin has been informed.
Initial enquiries indicate that the man was last seen leaving the Ballachulish Hotel at around 8.30pm on Monday, 3 November, when he intended to walk south along the footpath beside the A82 towards Ballachulish.
Detective Inspector Bilton, who is leading the enquiry, said:
“Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died.
“Enquiries are at an early stage and we are appealing for the help of the public to establish the man’s last movements as he made his way from the Ballachulish Hotel.
“I would urge anyone who was driving on the A82 around that time to think back, did you see someone walking in the area?
“I am asking anyone with dash-cam footage from the evening of Monday, 2 November to please get in touch.”
Anyone with information that could assist the investigation is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 1113 of Thursday, 6 November 2025.
