Two people have been arrested and charged after police seized cocaine worth an estimated £100,000 on the A9 near Crubenmore on Friday 27 February 2026.

Road policing officers stopped a car at around 12.55pm and carried out a search.

A quantity of cocaine with a reported street value of £100,000 was recovered along with a three figure sum of cash.

A 43 year old man and a 45 year old woman are due to appear in court at a later date.

The stop happened on one of the Highlands’ main arterial routes, a road that carries everything from tourists and families to commercial traffic moving north and south.

Sergeant Calum MacAulay said:

“We are determined to protect the public from this harmful criminality by disrupting the sale of illegal substances, preventing them being circulated on our streets and addressing the concerns of local people.

“Drugs cause misery in our communities and action like this is only possible through the continued support of the public.

“Information from the public is vital to our work and we urge anyone with information or concerns about drugs to contact us via 101 or make a call to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

Drug seizures on trunk roads underline how organised supply lines often run through rural Scotland as well as cities.

Behind every headline figure is the wider impact on families, neighbourhoods and local services.

Police are continuing enquiries.
