Highland communities have helped raise £15,000 for mental health charity Mikeysline, after a month-long fundraiser led by local bakery Harry Gow.
Thousands of customers across the region supported the campaign throughout March, purchasing bee-themed cupcakes in shops and counters across the Highlands and Moray.
Each cupcake, priced at £2, contributed towards a total of £15,000 raised for Mikeysline over the course of the campaign.
Teams across Harry Gow’s bakeries and shops worked incredibly hard to maximise the amount raised for Mikeysline, with every cupcake carefully baked, filled and hand-finished with its own bespoke bee decoration, alongside in-store posters and staff wearing campaign pin badges.
For Mikeysline, the donation comes at a time of continued and growing demand.
Allana Stables, Bee the Change Manager at Mikeysline, said:
“This support means everything to us.
“Every pound raised helps us be there for someone who might be struggling, often at a point where they feel they have nowhere else to turn.”
“We’re seeing real demand across the Highlands, and this kind of support allows us to keep our services accessible and available when people need them most.
“We are incredibly grateful to everyone who chose to get behind this.”
The campaign ran across all Harry Gow shops and counters throughout March, quickly gaining momentum as communities rallied behind the cause.
David Gow, managing director of Harry Gow, said:
“The support has been incredible.
“This has only been possible because of our customers and the communities we’re part of, who really got behind it from day one.”
“A huge amount of effort also went in from our team, from baking and filling to carefully hand-finishing each cupcake with its own bee decoration.
“It was a real team effort across the business, and we’re incredibly proud of what’s been achieved.”
Mikeysline continues to see high demand for support across the Highlands, with the £15,000 raised helping provide a vital lifeline for people experiencing emotional distress, loneliness and crisis.
The fundraiser highlights the impact local businesses and communities can have when they come together to support services that are needed every day across the Highlands.
