A new chapter has begun for one of Skye’s most iconic landmarks as The Highland Council officially launches The Storr’s online shop.

The digital store went live on 29 October, marking a major milestone in the Council’s ongoing work to enhance the visitor experience and expand access to locally crafted products.

The launch reflects a growing demand from both visitors and local businesses to share the magic of The Storr with the world, even from afar.

Chair of the Isle of Skye and Raasay Area Committee, Councillor John Finlayson, said the online store is a key step forward in supporting the region’s creative and economic ambitions.

“Today’s launch is a key milestone in our journey at The Storr,” he said.

“It’s about making things easier for our customers, both local and further afield, and opening new opportunities for growth and innovation in our community.”

He added that more local businesses were expressing interest in being part of The Storr’s story.

“This launch, followed later by phase two developments will help us manage the site, support local companies, and raise income that is reinvested back into the Skye and Raasay community,” he said.

The new website features a curated collection of gifts and keepsakes inspired by the rugged beauty of Skye.

Working with local artisans, the Storr team has developed bespoke and personalised products designed to showcase the character and charm of the Highlands.

Each item offers a meaningful connection to the landscape, perfect as a memento or a thoughtful gift.

Local businesses interested in becoming suppliers are invited to get in touch via thestorr@highland.gov.uk.

The online store also provides practical visitor information including guided walk bookings, parking details, and answers to frequently asked questions, as well as information for couples considering weddings at The Storr.

Corporate Resources Committee Chair, Councillor Paul Oldham, said the project is an inspiring example of how sustainable tourism can deliver for communities.

“The Storr has proven to be a great example of how thoughtful, community-led development can bring financial benefits and local employment while enhancing the visitor experience,” he said.

“The site is self-sustaining and reinvests directly in local infrastructure, jobs, and services.

“It’s a model of sustainable tourism that supports our communities and celebrates the very best of the Highlands.”

Designed to be simple, secure, and mobile-friendly, the new platform offers an easy shopping experience with a range of payment options.

It allows visitors from across the globe to take home a piece of Skye, even if they can’t make the journey in person.

The Council is encouraging people to explore the site, share feedback, and check back regularly as more products and experiences are added.

The new online store is live now at thestorr.com.
