A Taste of Eastern Europe in Ross-shire

The St Duthac Arts and Book Festival is delighted to be hosting The Budapest Café Orchestra to Tain for the first time ever on 5th of June.

Known as an eclectic group, the 4-piece perform gypsy & folk-flavoured music from all around the world, including traditional Balkan, Russian, Hungarian and Romanian with jazz nuances.

Playing at The Duthac Centre, Tain, tickets are £20 each and include either a glass of wine or a soft drink and can be booked via Ticketsource on 0333 666 3366

Newly returned Cahir of the St Duthac Books and Arts Festival, Catherine Williams, said:

“We are thrilled to be hosting he Budapest Café Orchestra at the Duthac Centre.

“They have been on our list of performers to bring to Tain for some time and they represent quite a coup for the team behind the Festival and for the town in general as this is the first time that the Orchestra have made it to Tain.

“Events such as this, happening outside the Festival week, are an important way of both fundraising and keeping the Festival in the public consciousness.

“Additionally, it reminds people that there is a huge appetite for this type of art and culture in Tain and Ross-shire more widely.

“We look forward to welcoming a large number of supporters to the Budapest Café Orchestra as tickets are already selling very quickly so we anticipate a fantastic occasion.

“A limited number of tickets will be on sale at Tain’s community market this Saturday.”

The Budapest Café Orchestra features internationally recognised musicians including Christian Garrick, one of the world’s best known jazz violinists whose film soundtrack work includes Les Miserables, Chocolat, Chicago and Poldark.

The line up also includes accordion player Eddie Hession, double bassist Kelvin Cantlon and multi instrumentalist Adrian Zolotuhin.

Organisers say tickets are already selling quickly ahead of the June performance.
