The Highland Council Roads Department plans to continue the road improvement works on the A861 that have been dependent on the return of the Corran Ferry service.
The return of the vehicle ferry will enable these works to proceed.
The works include surfacing of the new laybys and overlay of existing carriageway sections.
Preparatory works are planned to commence on Monday 30 October 2023 in advance of surfacing activities.
The highlighted section on the map below shows the full extent of the A861 where layby improvements have been constructed.
Preparatory works next week will be localised within this area.
The preparatory work will be followed by surfacing works which will commence from Thursday 02 November 2023 onwards and will impose restrictions as detailed below.
The closures will be short duration using the time slots identified below, and will be on short, localised sections of the road as required rather than a continuous whole-road closure.
Activities are planned to cease by Friday 24 November 2023.
Emergency access will be maintained at all times during the works, and operatives will work with the public to minimise the disruption introduced by these works.
The Highland Council thanks the local community, partner agencies and the traveling public for their continued cooperation.
