Following the announcement that the SNP Government plans to complete the dualling of the A9 to Inverness in 2035, the SNP has said this is ten times faster than the Tories’ “ludicrous” claim that it would take 111 years – a claim that has been totally debunked with the programme announced by the Scottish Government.
Despite Westminster austerity hammering Scotland’s capital budget – the SNP are taking action to deliver on the promise made to the people of the Highlands to complete dualling the A9 between Perth and Inverness.
SNP MSP Jackie Dunbar has welcomed this announcement and highlighted the benefits it will bring to the north of Scotland.
Commenting, SNP MSP Jackie Dunbar said:
“The Tories said this would take 111 years – thank goodness they are nowhere near power in Scotland.
“The SNP promised to complete dualling the A9 to Inverness and this announcement to do so by 2035 will be very welcome news to those in the north of Scotland.
“Dualling the A9 between Perth and Inverness will make travelling across rural Scotland immeasurably safer while also bringing significant economic benefit to our communities.
“Despite Westminster economic chaos creating difficult conditions for infrastructure projects with sky-high inflation, budget cuts and skill shortages – the SNP Government is prioritising the completion of this vital project.”
