The existing Tomatin junction on the A9 will close from Friday 20 February 2026 as part of the Transport Scotland A9 Dualling Tomatin to Moy project.
A new temporary junction will open approximately 400 metres south of the current access point following the realignment of the A9 at Tomatin in December 2025.
Overnight traffic management will be in place between 7pm and midnight on Thursday 19 February, with temporary traffic signals required to complete the final stages of the junction repositioning.
The existing junction will remain operational until the new temporary junction opens on Friday 20 February, at which point the current access will close.
The temporary junction will remain in use until the new Tomatin underpass is completed and becomes operational in late 2026.
Access will be maintained at all times for residents, visitors, Tomatin Distillery, Strathy Snacks, local properties and emergency services.
There will be no changes to the existing NCN7 pedestrian and cycle route, which will continue to operate as normal throughout the works.
From 20 February, both northbound and southbound bus stops currently located on the A9 at Tomatin will be permanently relocated to the bus turning circle near Tomatin Distillery.
Scheduled services including the 37 and the school bus to Millburn Academy will use the new stop location.
The X37 service will not stop at the turning circle and will continue to Carrbridge and Aviemore.
Road users are being asked to approach the area with care and allow extra time for journeys while the temporary arrangements are in place.
