Act Now Before Tax Changes Impact Double Cab Pick-Ups

Isuzu UK has launched a campaign urging buyers to secure their D-Max pick-ups ahead of major tax changes set to take effect in April 2025.

The upcoming reclassification of double cab pick-ups from commercial vehicles to cars for tax purposes will result in increased costs for both businesses and individuals.

From April 2025, Benefit in Kind (BIK) tax rates for double cab pick-ups will shift from a flat rate of £3,960 to a variable rate based on CO2 emissions.

Capital Allowances (CA) will also change, with double cab pick-ups no longer classified as ‘plant and machinery’ but instead treated as cars, reducing potential tax deductions.

Vehicles purchased or ordered before the April 2025 deadline will retain their current commercial vehicle classification under transitional rules, valid until 2029 or until disposal or lease expiry.

To spread awareness, Isuzu’s campaign uses digital and print media with bold visuals, including a playful take on the D-Max declaring, “From 6th April 2025, I’ll identify as a car!”

Alan Able, Managing Director of Isuzu UK, emphasised the importance of acting early, saying:

“This campaign ensures our customers are informed about these changes and their implications. Acting now protects buyers from higher costs later.”

While double cab pick-ups face reclassification, single and extended cab models remain unaffected by these legislative changes.

VAT treatment for double cab pick-ups will also remain unchanged, as will Vehicle Excise Duty (VED), commonly known as road tax.

Isuzu is encouraging businesses and individuals to act now, taking advantage of the existing tax benefits before the reclassification comes into force.

Those who buy before the deadline can lock in the current BIK flat rate and benefit from more favourable capital allowance rules, making significant savings.

The transitional rules also ensure that eligible vehicles retain their commercial classification until at least April 2029.

Isuzu UK’s D-Max, renowned for its durability and versatility, remains a top choice for businesses and individuals needing a reliable workhorse.
