Alexandra Bridge in Tain has reopened following essential repair works to extend the life of the structure.

The bridge, which is a vital link for the community, reopened on Thursday 25 September after engineers replaced the entire deck.

The work was carried out to ensure public safety and secure the long-term future of the crossing.

Highland Council thanked local residents and businesses for their patience during the closure.

The project was delivered on schedule, with teams completing the replacement work and carrying out safety checks before reopening.

The bridge now provides a renewed and more resilient connection for daily journeys through the town.

Future inspections and maintenance will continue as part of the Council’s responsibility to safeguard key infrastructure across the Highlands.

With Alexandra Bridge back in service, traffic and pedestrian routes in Tain have returned to normal, bringing welcome relief to the community.
