Allan Duffy Selected as Alliance Candidate for Moray

Allan Duffy has been selected as the Alliance to Liberate Scotland candidate for Moray in the Scottish Parliamentary elections due to take place in May.

The announcement places another candidate into a constituency that stretches across communities including Elgin, Lossiemouth, Forres and Buckie and has long been an important political battleground in the north east of Scotland.

Moray’s economy is shaped by a mixture of defence, agriculture, fishing and tourism, with issues such as transport infrastructure, healthcare access and local economic resilience often dominating election campaigns.

Duffy, who lives in Elgin, says his campaign will focus on practical issues affecting local residents while continuing to support Scotland’s independence debate.

“I’m very proud and excited to stand for Moray with Alliance to Liberate Scotland.

“While Scotland’s Independence is at the forefront of my campaign; I want to make a positive difference to the lives of every constituent in Moray.

“I campaigned extensively to retain RAF Lossiemouth, Kinloss and Leuchars and spent a lot of time in Moray when I was a serving soldier.

“One of the main issues I want to tackle is the improvements needed to the A96; for safety reasons and to improve connectivity across Moray.

“I also need to decentralise Police and Fire Service control rooms to bring back local knowledge and reduce the amount of time people spend trying to get through on the phone to report problems.

“Our local communities need to have a say in these services and be confident that when they call to report a problem, the person on the other end of the phone can act quickly.

“As a Veteran, I know the real challenges faced in accessing healthcare and other services while serving and when I settled back into civilian life in Elgin.

“I want to be able to make a real difference to the lives of Serving Personnel, their families, and our Veterans in Moray and in Scotland as a whole.

“As the Constituency MSP, my focus will be on transport safety, rural healthcare, farming issues and supporting our local economies; ensuring decisions taken that affect Moray will be made with local people at the forefront.

“Alliance to Liberate Scotland is committed to empowering communities, promoting transparency, and delivering practical solutions that reflect the realities of lives across Scotland and our Highlands and Islands.”

The Moray constituency has a strong military presence and includes RAF Lossiemouth, one of the United Kingdom’s most important air bases, which continues to play a central role in the local economy.

Transport connectivity also remains a major issue for many residents, particularly the long running debate over improvements to the A96 corridor linking Inverness and Aberdeen.

Healthcare access and the future of rural services are also expected to feature prominently in political debate as candidates begin campaigning ahead of the election.

With the Scottish Parliamentary election approaching in May, voters across Moray will soon begin hearing from candidates seeking to represent the area in Holyrood.
