Appeal After Fatal Crash Near Burra in Shetland

Road policing officers are appealing for information following a fatal crash at Bridge End near Burra on Thursday 2 April 2026.

Emergency services were called at around 8.50pm to reports of a one vehicle crash involving a silver Toyota Avensis.

An 83 year old man was pronounced dead at the scene and his family has been informed.

The road was closed while crash investigation work was carried out and reopened at around 5.40pm on Friday 3 April.

Enquiries are ongoing as officers work to establish the full circumstances of the incident.

Sergeant Neil MacDonald said:

“Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died at this difficult time.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the crash and I would ask anyone who witnessed what happened or who was travelling in the area at the time and may have dash cam footage to contact us.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident number 3502 of 2 April 2026.”

Police are continuing to gather information as part of their investigation.
