Police are appealing for information after three rings worth more than thirteen thousand pounds were stolen from a property in Lerwick.
The jewellery was taken sometime between 8am on Friday the 20th of November and 7.30am on Monday the 24th of November from a property between Hill Lane and Back Charlotte Street.
The most valuable ring is described as a vintage white gold band with a one carat diamond surrounded by smaller diamonds set into either side of the central stone and is valued at around ten thousand pounds.
Another ring is white gold inset with diamonds and a larger teardrop sapphire which has an estimated value of fifteen hundred pounds.
The third is a white gold band with seven small diamonds set into the ring and is valued at around two thousand pounds.
Together they make up a collection that is both expensive and deeply personal which is why officers are calling on the community to help find whoever is responsible.
Detective Constable Mike Greshon said enquiries are continuing and officers want to speak to anyone who may have seen something unusual in the area over the weekend.
He said the public can also help by keeping an eye out for the missing jewellery.
“Enquiries are ongoing to trace those responsible and we are asking anyone who saw anything suspicious to get in touch.
“Please also get in touch if you are offered jewellery as described or see any offered for sale.”
Officers say thefts of this kind often rely on opportunities created by quiet streets, dark nights or moments when a property is left unattended which is why even small pieces of information can make a difference.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting reference CR/0494527/25.
Information can also be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
The public are being encouraged to come forward even if they are unsure whether what they saw was relevant because a single detail can help build a clearer picture of what happened.
