The first break in happened at around 3am on Wednesday 21 January when a business premises on Union Street was entered and cash was stolen.

A second property on the same street was targeted in the early hours of Thursday 22 January, with money again taken.

Another incident was reported at around 5.15am on Friday 23 January, when a property on McArthur Street was broken into, although nothing was stolen on that occasion.

Two further break ins were reported on Saturday 24 January, with cash taken from a warehouse on River Street and a separate property on Harbour Place entered, where again nothing was stolen.

Officers believe the incidents are connected and enquiries are ongoing.

Detective Sergeant Christopher Robertson said police are keen to hear from anyone who may be able to help.

“I’m appealing to the public for help to identify who is responsible for these break ins.

“I’d urge anyone with information to come forward.

“If you have doorbell, dash cam or private CCTV footage, please review it to see if you’ve captured anything which may assist our investigation.”

Residents and business owners are also being asked to stay alert.

“Please remain vigilant and report anyone acting suspiciously to us.

“Officers carry out regular patrols of the area and anyone with concerns or looking for advice can speak to them.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting reference 0353 of 21 January 2026, or report anonymously through Crimestoppers.
