Police are appealing for information following a series of housebreakings reported across several Highland communities between December 2025 and mid January 2026.

Incidents have been recorded in Fort Augustus, Drumnadrochit, Letterfinlay, Banavie, and Kingussie, with officers investigating whether there may be links between the crimes.

In Fort Augustus, a number of properties in the Station Road, Arcdachy Road, and North Canal Side areas were broken into between late December and Wednesday 7th of January.

A quantity of alcohol was reported stolen from one property, and enquiries remain ongoing to establish whether anything was taken from other addresses.

Police have said two men were seen acting suspiciously in the area on Monday 5th of January and are believed to be linked to the incidents.

A further break in was reported at a property on Kilmore Road in Drumnadrochit, believed to have taken place between Saturday 10th of January and Tuesday 13th of January.

In Lochaber, two adjoining properties on the A82 at Letter Finlay, north of Spean Bridge, were broken into between Saturday 3rd of January and Friday 9th of January.

A three figure sum of cash was reported stolen during those incidents.

Another housebreaking was reported in Banavie, Fort William, at around 2.10am on Tuesday 13th of January, where a quantity of items including jewellery was taken.

Police also received a report of a housebreaking at a property on Newtonmore Road in Kingussie on Thursday 9th of January.

Officers have confirmed that extensive enquiries are ongoing and that all possibilities are being considered at this stage.

Detective Sergeant Laura Mackay said:

“Our enquiries into these incidents are ongoing and we would ask anyone who may have noticed anything suspicious in these areas to come forward.

“Anyone with private CCTV, doorbell or dash cam footage from the relevant dates and locations is encouraged to review it and contact police if they believe it may assist our enquiries.

“I would like to remind residents to be vigilant and mindful of home security.

“Keep all windows and doors locked and consider installing doorbell cameras, security cameras and alarms.

“Additional security advice is available on the Police Scotland website, and we would urge the community to report suspicious activity to the police as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 1967 of 21 December 2025.

Information can also be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
