An award winning Inverness support organisation is entering a new chapter after unveiling a new name that reflects the growth of its services across the Highlands.
Sarah Jane Befriending and Assistance, which was named Team of the Year at the 2025 Highland Business Women Awards, has rebranded as SJ Community Support.
The change marks the evolution of a business that began by providing one to one befriending services and has since grown into a wider community support network helping people throughout Inverness and the Highland Council area.
Today, the team provides companionship, home visits, social outings and practical support for people who may be less independent, living with a disability or facing mental health challenges.
The service also supports clients attending appointments, enjoying days out and maintaining important social connections that can become difficult as circumstances change.
Founder Sarah Jane Thomson said the new name better reflects the breadth of support now being delivered by her growing team.
“When I started out, befriending was at the heart of what we did, and it still absolutely is.
“But our clients and the families who trust us with their loved ones now lean on us for so much more, getting to appointments, days out, anniversaries, weekly company and support through difficult periods.
“SJ Community Support is a name that finally fits everything the team does, while keeping the personal, familiar feel that has always defined us.”
The business has grown steadily since its launch and received significant recognition last year when it won Team of the Year at the Highland Business Women Awards.
For Sarah Jane and her colleagues, the award remains a proud milestone.
“Winning Team of the Year was a moment none of us will ever forget.
“It belongs to every woman on the team and to the clients who trust us in their homes and their lives.
“After just one year, we were and remain so proud.”
SJ Community Support continues to operate throughout Inverness and the wider Highland region.
The organisation is currently welcoming enquiries from new clients and their families while also seeking compassionate and reliable people who may be interested in joining the team.
As the service continues to expand, the rebrand reflects a business that has grown beyond its original roots while remaining focused on the personal relationships and community connections that helped build its reputation.
