Local communities across Badenoch and Strathspey are set to benefit from new funding generated through The Highland Council’s Invitation to Pay parking scheme.

At the latest meeting of the Badenoch and Strathspey Committee, councillors heard that the scheme, introduced in 2023 has continued to perform well across the area’s council-operated car parks.

During 2024/25, parking donations from visitors in Grantown-on-Spey, Kingussie, and Carrbridge raised £2,546.51, which will now be made available for local community projects in the coming year.

The voluntary scheme encourages visitors to make a small contribution when parking, helping to fund initiatives that directly support local priorities.

Councillor Russell Jones, Chair of the Badenoch and Strathspey Committee, welcomed the positive results and praised the scheme’s community impact.

“The Invitation to Pay scheme has been successfully running for two years and I’m pleased to see it continuing to generate income that can be invested locally,” he said.

“This is money raised within Badenoch and Strathspey that stays within Badenoch and Strathspey, helping to support local community projects.

“Applicants wishing to access these funds should apply via the Ward Discretionary Fund.”

Full details on how to apply for Ward Discretionary Funding can be found on The Highland Council’s website.
