People across the Highlands are being invited to take part in the audience for BBC Scotland’s political discussion programme Debate Night when it visits Ullapool later this month.
The programme will be filmed on the evening of Wednesday 18 March 2026 and organisers are encouraging local residents to apply for free studio tickets.
Debate Night travels around Scotland each week, bringing together politicians, public figures and members of the public for a live discussion about the issues affecting communities across the country.
The BBC says the programme is designed to give people the opportunity to ask questions directly to decision makers and contribute to the national conversation.
BBC presenter Stephen Jardine is encouraging people from the Highlands to apply and take part in the discussion.
“Debate Night is BBC Scotland’s political discussion show and we want the people from across Scotland to have their say.
“The programme travels around the country on Wednesday evenings, and we would be delighted to welcome people from the Highlands for our forthcoming episode.
“ULLAPOOL on the evening of Wednesday 18 March 2026.”
Applications for audience tickets can be made through the BBC website and the process takes only a couple of minutes to complete.
Applicants simply need to visit the Debate Night page and select the Ullapool programme date.
Those who wish to attend with friends or family are asked to ensure each person submits their own application.
The BBC says it is keen to hear from people from all walks of life, reflecting the diversity of communities across Scotland.
“You might be a parent, a carer or a student.
“Perhaps you run a business or are a frontline worker.
“Retired, self employed, unemployed or just starting out in the workplace, we need you.”
The programme regularly attracts well known figures from across politics, culture, sport and business.
Recent guests have included actor Brian Cox, fashion presenter Patrick Grant, Still Game star Jane McCarry, footballer Pat Nevin, author Val McDermid, musician Ricky Ross of Deacon Blue and entrepreneur Sir Tom Hunter.
Audience members play a central role in the programme, with their questions and experiences helping shape the discussion on the night.
“It’s your questions, stories, experiences and opinions that lead our discussion, so we couldn’t do it without you.”
The Ullapool recording will form part of Debate Night’s regular Wednesday evening broadcast schedule on BBC Scotland.
