An information event to increase awareness of dementia will be held at Bettyhill library next week.

High Life Highland (HLH) is working in conjunction with Alzheimer Scotland to hold the information session on Tuesday, October 19.

Alzheimer Scotland Dementia Advisor Hayley Lyons will be answering questions and giving out information over a livestream at the Naver Teleservice Centre library.

HLH Library Assistant Catriona MacLeod said:

“This is a first for us and as well as Hayley joining us virtually, we’re inviting people to drop in during the week to chat and pick up information.

“We also have a travelling suitcase, kindly loaned to us from Strathnaver Museum.

“The piece is called Pack then Unpack and was created by artist Joanne Karr for people to view – a vintage suitcase filled with garments designed to spark reminiscing.”

Alzheimer Scotland is Scotland’s leading specialist dementia charity and the Dementia Friends Scotland initiative looks to increase awareness of dementia and reduce stigma by raising awareness and understanding of dementia in communities.

The Dementia Friend information session takes place between 10.30am and 11.30am.

To attend in person, contact bettyhill.library@highlifehighland.com or phone 01641 521 754.

Attendees can also join virtually on Microsoft Teams by requesting a link via Bettyhill.library@highlifehighland.com

Covid-19 restrictions and precautions will be in place during the event and numbers are limited.
