Police Scotland have confirmed that the body of a man has been found in the Stromness area of Orkney, where officers had been searching for missing 72 year old Arthur Alexander Robertson, known as Sandy.
The discovery was made at around 9pm on Tuesday 3 November 2026.
Formal identification has not yet taken place, but police have confirmed that Sandy’s family has been informed.
Sandy, who was from Stromness, was last seen in the Stenness area at approximately 6pm on Sunday 1 November.
His disappearance prompted a public appeal from Police Scotland, with officers expressing growing concern for his welfare because he was unsteady on his feet and had not been in contact with his family.
Police had asked local residents to check outbuildings where he might have sought shelter, while also appealing for dashcam footage and private CCTV recordings that could help trace his movements.
Officers have confirmed that there are no apparent suspicious circumstances surrounding the discovery of the body.
A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.
The identity of the man who has been found remains unconfirmed pending formal identification.
