Born To Lose MCC will take on a 35 stone motorcycle push from Inverness to Dochgarroch on 30th of November to raise funds for the Highland child abuse prevention charity Safe Strong and Free.

The Inverness motorcycle club will push a 225kg bike for roughly 5.5 miles in support of the charity which works to reduce the vulnerability of children and young people to abuse and assault across the region.

Born To Lose MCC is a local club rooted in family values and community spirit with members aged from 18 to 60 all drawn together by a shared love of motorcycles and camaraderie.

Club member James Macleod said the challenge grew naturally from the bonds formed within the group.

“Whilst it is a love of being on the road that brought us all together, time spent off the road socialising as a group is equally as important.

“Especially in the long dark winter months.

“It’s during these times we really get to know each other and learn a lot about how we can help each other or those around us.

“The bike push itself is a fairly simple concept, as basic as it sounds.

“On November 30th we will push a motorcycle along a route roughly 5.5 miles long.

“This isn’t as easy as it sounds, with the bike weighing approximately 225kg (about 35 stone) it really becomes a team effort and a bonding experience!

“I’m sure we can rely on the Scottish weather to make it that extra bit challenging.”

Safe Strong and Free is a Highland based charity dedicated to helping children and young people build confidence and awareness so they can stay safe from harm and navigate difficult situations with support and understanding.

The organisation works closely with families, schools and communities across the Highlands to ensure that children have the tools they need to recognise unsafe behaviour and know how to seek help.

The charity is recognised for its early intervention work which is delivered through trusted community partnerships and educational programmes shaped for children of different ages.

The bike push offers the club a chance to raise awareness of that work while bringing their own members closer together through a challenge that leans on effort, teamwork and shared purpose.

Born To Lose MCC hope the event will encourage the wider community to support Safe Strong and Free and shine a light on the work taking place every day to protect young people across the Highlands.

The club say they are proud to use their platform as riders and friends to stand behind a charity whose focus is firmly on keeping children safe, informed and confident in their own surroundings.

The challenge will begin in Inverness and finish at Dochgarroch and supporters are invited to back the fundraising effort in any way they can as the club take on the November weather and the weight of the bike together.

The event speaks to the spirit of Highland communities where small groups can make a big impact when they step forward for a cause that matters, and where a shared effort can carry a message much further than the miles on the road.
