Bus travel is being put front and centre in Inverness today (8 September) as part of the nationwide Catch the Bus Month 2025 campaign.
Representatives from Bus Users UK will be at the city’s bus station to highlight the benefits of getting on board, from easing congestion and cutting pollution, to boosting local economies and supporting mental wellbeing.
The event is backed by The Highland Council, which is running a month-long offer to encourage more people to use public transport.
Councillor Ken Gowans, Chair of the Council’s Economy and Infrastructure Committee, said:
“We are delighted to be supporting Catch the Bus Month as it’s a great way to highlight the very important role buses play in connecting our communities, reducing traffic and emissions, and keeping life moving.
“Travelling by bus also gives you time to read, unwind, avoid stressful commutes and parking.
“I encourage everyone to ‘get on board’ and come along on Monday to tour the buses and speak to the representatives.”
From 9am, the team will be at Inverness bus station, before moving to the High Street outside Marks & Spencer at 11am, where three buses will be parked up for public tours.
Visitors will have the chance to speak directly with representatives from Bus Users UK, the Council’s in-house transport team, D&E Coaches, and CityLink about the benefits of bus travel and the services available.
Stagecoach will also be present at the bus station during the morning.
The Highland Council is offering a discounted 10-journey ticket for just £20 across any routes served by its in-house bus service throughout September.
Passengers can purchase tickets through the MyTrip app and view full timetables on the Council’s website.
The event is part of a broader push to show how bus travel supports not just environmental goals but also everyday life, providing affordable, accessible, and reliable options for all ages.
