Scotland is getting ready to dance under the open sky as The Kelpies prepare to host their first outdoor evening ceilidh to mark St Andrews weekend.
Scottish Canals and Falkirk Council will bring Ceilidh at The Kelpies to Helix Park today 28th of November with Scotland’s chart topping ceilidh band Whisky Kiss at the heart of the celebrations.
The band made history with Jocks Revenge becoming the first ceilidh track to reach an international iTunes number 1 and their high energy style has been filling dancefloors across continents.

Founding member Iain MacPhail said the group is looking forward to returning to the sculptures.
“Whisky Kiss cannot wait to get the ceilidh started at the Kelpies on the 28th of November!
“It’s shaping up to be an amazing month for the group, and we’ll be arriving to The Kelpies fresh from performances at St Andrew’s celebrations in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Beijing, as well as Edinburgh and Stirling Castles.
“It’s no exaggeration to say we are thrilled to be bringing our chart-topping band, champion highland dancers, and breakdancers back to the spectacular setting of The Kelpies.”
Councillor Cecil Meiklejohn, Leader of Falkirk Council, said the night will offer something memorable for the whole community.
“It promises to be an exciting night at the Kelpies and guests will have a great time with the entertainment on offer.
“Staging events at this fabulous location will help boost our local economy and ensure that the Kelpies and Helix park remain a firm favourite with visitors and locals alike.”
The evening will open with dancers from the award winning McKenchie School of Dance whose young performers carry Scottish, British and world titles.
Falkirk Trad Band will follow with reels and jigs that bring warmth and rhythm to the November air.
Falkirk Schools Pipe Band will then return to a familiar stage after a successful season that included taking part in the World Pipe Band Championships.
Whisky Kiss will guide dancers of all levels through well loved ceilidh favourites from the Gay Gordons to the Dashing White Sergeant before building into a lively Strip the Willow.
Their world championship Highland dancers and Scottish champion breakdancers will add bursts of athletic energy whenever the ceilidh steps pause.
Guests can enjoy Scottish inspired pizzas topped with haggis, neeps and tatties offering a hearty way to keep energy high through the night.
The Kelpies will tower above the celebrations as 100ft steel guardians of Scotland’s industrial heritage and modern imagination.
Created by artist Andy Scott the 300 tonne sculptures have become one of the country’s most visited attractions and have contributed an estimated £81,000,000 to the Scottish economy since their unveiling in 2014.
The ceilidh will also mark the first anniversary of The Kelpies Experience which takes visitors inside the raised head for a guided aerial viewpoint and has already raised more than £700,000 for charities and community groups.
Gates open at 6.30pm with entertainment running from 7pm until 8.30pm and the event welcomes everyone aged 5 and over.
Cycling Without Age will support guests with mobility needs to ensure as many people as possible can share in the celebration at the water’s edge.
