A new event celebrating 100 years of Grant Park in Forres being gifted to the town, is being planned for August 2024.

The one-day event, which will take place on Saturday, August 24th, is being organised by Forres Events Ltd (FEL), the company behind the hugely successful Piping At Forres.

Grant Park 100 will include arenas with demonstrations and competitions, with a focus on family fun.

There will also be have-a-go activities, marquees with exhibitions, displays and trade stalls.

The ticketed event is being held to acknowledge that Forres man, Alexander Grant and inventor of the Digestive Biscuit, gifted the park to the people of Forres in 1924.

Joanna Taylor, a director of Forres Events Ltd explained:

“We are very excited to be bringing another important event to the stunning location that is Grant Park.

“This show will celebrate the park and its value to the community over the 100 years since it was gifted to the town.

“Enjoyed daily by many people, with its 30 acres of wide-open grass and award-winning gardens, Grant Park is an essential part of the town.

“As is showcased every year by the Forres Highland Games and the Rotary Club of Forres, who stage the town’s fireworks display, and over the years that FEL staged Piping at Forres, Grant Park is the perfect venue for events.

“Supporting the community is not new for Forresians, but perhaps the one that has had the greatest and enduring impact on the town was made in 1924 when Alexander Grant gave the park to Forres, hence why we think it’s important to mark this significant milestone.”

Speaking specifically about Grant Park 100, Laurie Piper who is also a director of Forres Events Ltd, added:

“Grant Park is very special to me.

“It was the first place that I visited in Forres and probably the main thing that made me move to Forres.

“The park means something different for everyone who lives, work, or visits our wonderful town and I am very much looking forward to bringing a great event for all to enjoy next August.”
