A Highland charity dedicated to empowering and protecting young children throughout the region, marked a truly memorable occasion as golfers, sponsors, and supporters gathered at the Inverness Golf Club for Safe Strong and Free’s inaugural Charity Golf Day on Friday, August 9.

Proudly supported by the Porex Filtration Group, the event featured 14 enthusiastic teams, all united by a common goal: to enjoy a fantastic day of golf while raising vital funds for Safe Strong and Free, an organisation that aims to reduce the vulnerability of young children to experiences of abuse and assault in their communities.

Inside Sales Manager of Porex Filtration Group, David Taylor, expressed his delight in supporting the event, saying:

“We are thrilled to have been part of this incredible day – it certainly was a triumph for all involved.

“As the nominated charity for Porex, we are honoured to contribute to Safe Strong and Free’s continued work in keeping children within our communities safe and empowered – what they do is truly invaluable.”

Throughout the day, participants competed in five thrilling competitions, raising an estimated £15,000 for the organisation.

These funds will directly support Safe, Strong, and Free’s work, which includes their Primary Abuse Prevention workshops which currently cost £150 per session.

These workshops teach children critical skills for staying safe from strangers; what to do if they are being bullied; and who to turn to if they experience inappropriate interactions with adults they know.

Kerry Lowe, Charity Manager of Safe, Strong, and Free, shared her gratitude to all involved in the day’s proceedings, commenting:

“We are completely  overwhelmed by the incredible support we received at our first charity golf day.

“The funds raised will make a real difference in helping us continue our work across the Highlands.

“We are deeply thankful to the Porex Filtration Group and everyone who contributed to making this day such a success.

“Together, we are building safer and stronger communities for our children.”

The day concluded with an auction, raffle, and prize-giving ceremony, where participants had the chance to win a number of incredible experiences, including a 4-ball at Fortrose & Rosemarkie Golf Club, a week-long BMW hire, and more.
