Regulars at Carlton Bingo in Elgin had a new caller recently when Moray MP Douglas Ross took a turn at drawing the numbers for a charity game.

Douglas, who sits on the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Bingo, said:

“I was pleased to be invited to call the charity game at Carlton in Elgin to celebrate National Bingo Day, and it was good to see two winners of the game I called.

“As well as being a lot of fun, £15,000 was donated to Variety, The Children’s Charity.

“I want to thank Rebecca Hadden and her team for hosting me and for all their hard work to ensure that they keep their customers covid-safe, allowing people once again to enjoy a game of bingo.

“Bingo halls had a really tough time due to covid lockdowns, so it was great to see so many people having a good night out in Elgin and I thank everyone for their patience as I called the numbers!”

Rebecca Hadden, Deputy Manager at Carlton Bingo, said:

“We were delighted to welcome Douglas to Carlton Bingo Elgin to celebrate National Bingo Day with us.

“Our staff and customers had a good talk with him, and he did a brilliant job calling the numbers in our charity game!

“Bingo clubs are at the heart of their communities, and we greatly appreciate Douglas’s support for us.”
