San dreuchd ùr Oifigear Leasachaidh a chaidh a stèidheachadh, bidh Jasmine a’ toirt taic do bhuill an Fhòraim a bhith a’ fuasgladh suas na tha comasach don earrann dualchas coimhearsnachd ann an Innse Gall a bhith a’ coileanadh, a’ brosnachadh seasmhachd agus fulangas nam buidhnean sin.  

Ann a bhith a’ bruidhinn mu bhith air a stèidheachadh san dreuchd, thuirt Jasmine:

“Tha mi air leth toilichte a bhith air mo shuidheachadh ann an dreuchd Oifigear Leasachaidh aig Comann Dualchas Innse Gall. 

“Tha tuigse agus ùidh làidir agus so-dhearbhte agam airson dualchas coimhearsnachd, agus chithear sin nam bheatha phearsanta, acadaimigeach agus nam bheatha obrach, agus tha mi airson mo thuigse teòiridheach agus mo sgilean practaigeach a chur an cèill san dreuchd seo. 

“Tha dualchas làimhseachail agus neo-làimhseachail cho beairteach againn sna h-Eileanan an Iar agus iomadh sàr eisimpleir de bhuidhnean a tha a’ sìor obrachadh gus a bhith ga chumail suas agus ga ghlèidheadh. 

“Tha an dreuchd seo a’ tabhann deagh chothrom a bhith a’ meudachadh agus a’ comharrachadh obair nam buidhnean sin bho Bharraigh gu Rubha Robhanais, agus tha mi a’ coimhead air adhart ri bhith ag obair còmhla ris na buill againn gus leudachadh amasan agus rùintean inntinneach an Fhòraim.”

Thuirt i cuideachd:

“Cumaibh sùil a-mach airson ar làthaireachd ann an riochd didseatach. 

“Chan fhada gus am bi an làrach-lìn ùr-dheasaichte againn agus ar seanailean air na meadhanan sòisealta beò, agus bidh iad sin mar aon de na dòighean as èifeachdaich air cumail suas ri obair an Fhòraim agus a bhuill.”

Thuirt Ken Rodaidh MacAoidh, Cathraiche Comann Dualchas Innse Gall:

“Tha an suidheachadh seo a’ comharrachadh ceum mòr air adhart do earrann an Dualchais ann an Innse Gall agus tha sinn taingeil do CNES airson taic a thoirt dhan iomairt seo. 

“Tha e air a bhith na amas fad-ùine Oifigear Leasachaidh a chur ann an dreuchd agus bidh e na eileamaid riatanach ann a bhith a’ lìbhrigeadh amasan agus rùintean an Fhòraim. 

“Tha sinn fortanach gun d’ fhuair sinn Jasmine airson na dreuchd seo agus tha sinn a’ coimhead air adhart ri bhith ag obair còmhla rithe gus a bhith a’ lìbhrigeadh amasan agus prìomh eileamaidean Ro-innleachd an Fhìor Àite.”

Tha Comann Dualchas Innse Gall ag amas air a bhith a’ leudachadh a bhallrachd agus tha e a’ toirt cuireadh do bhuidhnean dualchais coimhearsnachd a tha ag obair sna h-Eileanan an Iar ballrachd fhaighinn.

Outer Hebrides Heritage Forum appoints Development Officer

Comann Dualchas Innse Gall, the Outer Hebrides Heritage Forum, is pleased to announce it has appointed Jasmine Montgomery Wilkie as its Development Officer.

Jasmine holds a Master’s degree with Distinction from St Andrews University in Museum & Gallery Studies and has worked in the Outer Hebrides for the last three years. 

She will be based at office 5, Kinloch Community Hub in Balallan, Isle of Lewis, for the duration of her two-year post.

Comann Dualchas Innse Gall, established in 2018, is an umbrella organisation which represents 30 heritage organisations throughout the Western Isles. 

Its key aims are to enable community heritage organisations in the Outer Hebrides to work collaboratively and to pool knowledge. 

Since its inception, the Forum has been working closely with local authority Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, Highlands and Islands Enterprise and Museums Galleries Scotland.

In the newly created role of Development Officer, Jasmine will support members of the Forum to unlock the potential of the community heritage sector in the Outer Hebrides, encouraging the sustainability and resilience of these organisations.

Speaking on her appointment to the role, Jasmine said:

“I am thrilled to have been appointed to the post of Development Officer with the Outer Hebrides Heritage Forum. 

“I have strong and demonstrable understanding and passion for community heritage, evidenced in my personal, academic and working lives, and I am keen to apply both my theoretical understanding and practical skills to this role.  

“We have such rich tangible and intangible heritage in the Western Isles and many excellent examples of organisations working tirelessly to sustain and preserve it. 

“The post offers a great opportunity to maximise and further highlight the work of these organisations situated from Barra to the Butt of Lewis, and I am looking forward to working with our members to further the exciting aims and aspirations of the Forum.”

She added:

“Please do keep an eye out for our forthcoming digital presence. 

“Our newly designed website and social media channels will shortly be live, and these will represent one of the most effective ways to keep abreast of the activities of both the Forum and its members.”

Ken Roddy Mackay, Chair of Comann Dualchas Innse Gall, said:

“This appointment marks a major step forward for the Heritage sector in the Outer Hebrides and we are thankful to CNES for supporting this initiative.

“To get a Development Officer in post has been a long-term ambition and will be an essential element in delivering the aims and aspirations of the Forum.

“We are fortunate to secure the services of Jasmine and we look forward to working with her to deliver the Forum’s aims and key elements of The Great Place Strategy.”

The Outer Hebrides Heritage Forum is seeking to develop its membership and invites community-led heritage organisations working in the Western Isles to join.
