Community groups in Nairnshire are being invited to help shape the agenda for the next Nairn Common Good Engagement Group meeting, which will take place on Wednesday 4 February 2026.

The engagement group was established to give local community interests a direct voice in how Nairn’s Common Good assets are discussed and managed.

When the Nairnshire Area Committee met in August 2025, elected members agreed that the business of engagement group meetings should be driven by community interest within the agreed Terms of Reference.

Any properly constituted community group with an interest in Nairn’s Common Good can submit an item for consideration at the February meeting.

Discussion at the engagement group will then inform elected members ahead of the next Nairnshire Area Committee meeting.

Groups wishing to submit an agenda item are required to complete an online submission form, with a deadline of 28 January.

Michael Green, Chair of the Nairnshire Area Committee, said the engagement process had already proven its value.

“The first meeting of the Nairnshire Common Good Fund Engagement Group took place back in early 2024 and we’ve held a number of positive and collaborative meetings in the time since then.

“I hope that 2026 continues on this positive trajectory, enabling local community stakeholders to engage with officers involved in the administration of the Nairn Common Good Fund.

“It’s ultimately about working together on issues impacting the future of this important asset and particularly focusing on bringing benefit to the people of Nairnshire.

“I would encourage constituted community groups to take some time to consider if there are any items of business they wish to put forward for the agenda of February’s engagement group meeting.

“Please ensure that these reach us through the online form by the deadline of 28 January.”

The Common Good Fund plays a longstanding role in supporting local benefit in Nairnshire, and the engagement group is designed to ensure transparency, collaboration and community involvement in decision making.
