The Maid of Glencoul will shortly be heading for her planned annual refit scheduled to take place over the next few weeks, with her return to Ardgour expected April/May 2024.

Economy and Infrastructure Committee Chair, Cllr Ken Gowans said:

“Currently the Maid of Glencoul is out of service due to steering system issues.

“In January 2024, repairs to the Maid’s steering were undertaken, however further modifications requiring component manufacture are necessary and we are working continuously with the steering system supplier to achieve completion of this as soon as possible.

“The steering system work continues to take place simultaneous to the planned refit work and it remains a priority to have the Maid of Glencoul back in operation as soon as possible as a support vessel for the MV Corran, whilst the Council continues their efforts to secure suitable funding for the replacement ferry programme.”
