It’s been a packed week across the shinty calendar, with thrilling draws, strong wins, and a few last-minute postponements shaking up the Mowi leagues and cups.
In the Mowi Premiership on Friday night, Lovat and Caberfeidh played out a high-tempo 3–3 draw, with Calum Girvan among the standouts in a close-fought contest.
On Saturday, Skye showed their strength with a commanding 4–0 home win over Caberfeidh, featuring goals from Dan MacDonald and Ruaraidh MacLeod.
Elsewhere in the Tulloch Homes Camanachd Cup, there were big wins for Beauly and Inveraray, both running out 5–0 winners over Lovat and Oban Camanachd respectively.
Kinlochshiel edged past Garry Lord’s Oban side 2–1 thanks to an early goal from Ali Nixon.
In the Strathdearn Cup semi-finals, Kingussie’s Roddy Young put on a show with four goals in their 6–2 win over Fort William, while Newtonmore advanced after a strong 4–1 victory against Fort William in the other half of the draw.
Beauly were unable to field a team, handing Fort William a walkover.
The Bullough Cup semi-finals saw Glasgow Mid Argyll hit top form with a 5–2 win over the English Shinty Association, with James MacLeod and Zac Menzies both scoring.
In the Mowi National Division, Bute overcame Col Glen 5–2 with goals from Dean Robertson, Iain McDonald and two from Leon McMillan.
Inveraray defeated Lochside Rovers 7–2 in another high-scoring clash, with Lewis Buchanan netting a hat-trick.
North Division 1 saw Glenurquhart run riot in a 7–0 demolition of Strathglass, with Glenn MacDonald scoring a hat-trick and Chris Mack adding two late goals.
Glengarry also enjoyed a 4–0 win over Kingussie.
North Division 2 featured a tight 3–2 away win for Inverness over Caberfeidh, with Charlie MacDonald’s second-half double proving decisive.
Lewis overcame Strathglass 2–1, while Kilmallie earned a 4–0 win away to Boleskine.
Several matches, including Ardnamurchan vs Kilmory and Boleskine vs Lochaber, were postponed due to pitch issues and are to be rescheduled.
In the Mowi South Division 1, Aberdour and Oban Celtic shared the points in a 2–2 draw, while in South Division 2, both Strachur-Dunoon vs Stirling and Kyles Athletic vs Bute were postponed.
Finally, in Women’s Camanachd action from 5–6 July, Glenurquhart delivered a dominant 13–0 win over Strathspey, with Rowan Brockie netting six and Emily and Rebecca Van Loon contributing four between them.
