Cyclist Dies Following Late Night Crash in Shetland

A 51 year old man has died following a collision involving a vehicle and a cyclist on the B9074 in Trondra, Shetland, at around 10pm on Saturday 21st of March 2026.

Emergency services were called to the scene after a crash involving a black Ford Ranger and a cyclist, with the man taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

The occupants of the Ford Ranger were not injured in the incident.

The road remains closed on Sunday 22nd of March as officers continue their enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the collision.

Sergeant Ewan Calder said:

“My thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died and we’ll continue to offer them support.

“I’m appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time and may have any information which could assist our investigation to come forward.”

Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who has relevant information to get in touch.

Anyone who can help is asked to call Police Scotland on 101 quoting reference 3319 of 21 March.
