The north of Scotland’s leading private hire coach operator, D&E Coaches, is trialling its first electric bus on the Ullapool 961 Citylink service this month, marking an exciting milestone in the company’s commitment to sustainability and future-focused transport solutions across the Highlands.
The 53-seater electric coach, capable of travelling up to 280 miles per day on a single charge, is the first of its kind in D&E Coaches’ fleet.
This pioneering trial underscores the company’s commitment to sustainable practices while providing passengers with the opportunity to experience the benefits of electric travel firsthand.
Gayle McEwan, transport manager and director at D&E Coaches, said:
“We are incredibly excited to be trialling our new electric coach on the Ullapool 961 Citylink route.
“By exploring electric vehicle technology, we hope to offer greener alternatives to our customers in the future, all while maintaining the comfort and reliability they’ve come to expect from our services.
“From spacious seating to modern facilities, the coach will continue to offer the same high standards our passengers love – but with the added benefit of being more environmentally friendly.”
D&E Coaches hopes that the trial will provide valuable insights into the performance and management of an electric fleet in the Highlands.
This will pave the way for future investments in sustainable transport solutions for the business, which includes Inverness’s ever-popular CitySightseeing service.
