Ducati and LEGO Bring Motocross Excitement to Life With New Technic Motorcycle

The thrill of motocross is getting a new twist as Ducati and LEGO join forces to recreate one of the Italian manufacturer’s most exciting motorcycles in miniature.

The new LEGO Technic Ducati Desmo450 MX Factory brings the unmistakable character of Ducati’s competition machinery to a 457 piece building set, complete with working mechanical features.

Designed for enthusiasts aged ten and over, the model is inspired by the race ready version of Ducati’s first motocross motorcycle to feature its distinctive desmodromic valve system.

And while the real machine is built for racing across demanding terrain, its smaller counterpart offers something different, an opportunity to explore the engineering behind a modern motorcycle.

The model features functioning steering, front and rear suspension and a simulated engine mechanism connected by a chain to the rear wheel.

These details allow builders to see how mechanical components work together, making the finished motorcycle more than simply a static display piece.

Once assembled, the model measures approximately 31cm long, 19cm high and 11cm wide.

The set is priced at £44.99 in the UK and is available through LEGO’s official website and selected retailers.

For anyone who enjoys motorcycles, mechanical engineering or simply building something with their hands, the combination offers an appealing introduction to Ducati’s growing off road range.

The collaboration continues a relationship between the two companies that began in 2020 with a LEGO Technic interpretation of the Ducati Panigale V4 R.

This time the focus moves from the racetrack to motocross, reflecting Ducati’s expansion into new forms of motorcycle competition.

Alessandro Cicognani, Ducati’s Licensing, Merchandising and Corporate Sponsorship Director, said:

“With our entry into the off-road world, we have opened a new chapter in Ducati’s history, bringing our racing DNA into new disciplines.

“We are particularly pleased that the LEGO Group has chosen the Desmo450 MX Factory to continue our collaboration, which began with the Panigale V4 R in 2020.

“Two very different motorcycles, yet both expressions of the same Ducati philosophy, built on innovation, performance and a passion for racing.”

Builders can also use the LEGO Builder app to follow digital assembly instructions, rotate the motorcycle in three dimensions and examine individual components as the model takes shape.

The new set will feature at Lucca Comics & Games in Italy from 28 October to 1 November, where visitors can see the LEGO motorcycle alongside the real Ducati Desmo450 MX Factory.

The exhibition will also feature a full size LEGO replica of the Panigale V4 R, created by LEGO Certified Professional artist Riccardo Zangelmi.

Ducati’s expanding off road range now includes motocross, enduro and supermotard machines, with the Desmo450 MX Factory representing its more competition focused motocross offering.

For younger builders, the Technic model provides an accessible introduction to the mechanics of motorcycles, while older enthusiasts can appreciate the familiar engineering details and Ducati styling.

And although this particular Ducati won’t be clearing jumps or tackling muddy forest trails, putting its 457 pieces together offers a different kind of satisfaction for anyone with a passion for two wheels.
