Fatal Road Crash A82 Near Achnabobane

The A82 was closed between Fort William and Spean Bridge near Achnabobane due a two-vehicle crash that happened around 7.35pm on Thursday, 18 August, 2022.

The road was closed for 8 hours to allow emergency services to attend the scene.

Officers from the Road Policing Unit in Dingwall are appealing for information after a 60-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man both died following the road crash.

The cars involved were a BMW three series and a Fiat Fiorino.

Emergency services attended and the 60-year-old driver of the Fiat and the 25-year-old driver of the BMW were pronounced dead at the scene.

Sergeant Alasdair MacKay from the Road Policing Unit in Dingwall said:

“Our enquiries are continuing to establish the full circumstances surrounding this collision and our thoughts and condolences are with the family and friends of the woman and the man who died.

“I would urge anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or observed the vehicles beforehand to please contact us as soon as possible.

“Likewise, any motorists with dash-cams who were travelling on the A82 shortly before the crash are asked to check any footage in case you have captured anything which could be of significance to our investigation.

 “The road was closed for around eight hours with diversions in place, and I would like to thank the public for their patience while.

 “Anyone with information should call Police Scotland on 101, quoting reference number 3181 of 18 August.”
