Final Call for Inverness Residents to Respond to Longman Land Proposal

Inverness residents have until the 2nd of April 2026 to respond to a consultation on proposed changes to common good land at the Longman Industrial Estate.

The consultation, issued under the Community Empowerment Scotland Act 2015, relates to a site at Stadium Road next to the Inverness Caledonian Thistle football ground.

The land is currently leased but remains undeveloped, with the existing tenant now seeking to assign the lease to a new occupier and expand the permitted uses of the site.

If approved, the changes would bring the land into line with other common good leases within the Longman Industrial Estate, potentially allowing for wider development in the future.

In the short term, the site is expected to be used as laydown space for storage, while longer term options continue to be explored.

The Highland Council has said it is keen to gather views from the public before making any decision on the proposal.

All responses submitted during the consultation period will be fully considered as part of the process.

Should the Council decide to support the proposal, it would then be required to apply to the Sheriff Court for formal consent before any changes could proceed.

Details of the consultation, along with information on how common good land can be used or disposed of, are available on the Council’s website.

Residents can submit their views online, by email common.good@highland.gov.uk or by post, with the deadline set for the close of play on the 2nd of April.

The outcome of the consultation, including responses and any final decision, will be published in due course.

The consultation offers a final opportunity for Inverness residents to have their say on how common good land at the Longman Industrial Estate could be used in the future.

Inverness residents have until early April to respond to proposals affecting common good land at the Longman Industrial Estate, with public feedback set to play a key role in shaping any future decision.
