This November, Visit Inverness Loch Ness (VILN) will be celebrating local food and drink with its Taster of Inverness event.

Taking place at the Drumossie Hotel on Thursday 2nd November, the event will bring together creative writers and social media specialists from all over the UK.

Businesses and individuals are invited to attend the event which includes talks and demonstrations by inspirational local chefs and authors, with attendees also given the chance to meet local producers.

Speakers include Masterchef finalist Sarah Rankin, food author Ghillie Basan, Scotland Food and Drink’s Fiona Richmond, and local food and drink content creators Haim & Awa.

Cooking and baking demonstrations using local produce will be held by Sarah Rankin, as well as award-winning writer Jeni Iannetta from Bad Girl Bakery and top chefs from the Drumossie Hotel.

Commenting on her attendance at the event, Sarah Rankin, who is originally from Inverness, said:

“I’m really excited to be heading back to Inverness for this celebration of local food and drink.

“The Highlands and Inverness and Loch Ness have such a rich larder and some fantastic producers.

“The Taster of Inverness event is a great opportunity to come together to celebrate these and look at how we can develop our food and drink offering for the future.”

The event programme includes a look at the future of food and drink with Fiona Richmond from Scotland Food and Drink, a cake decoration demonstration from Bad Girl Bakery’s Jeni Iannetta, and a session on social media and food tourism with Kelly and Adam from Haim & Awa.

Kelly Tadd from Haim & Awa said:

“The food and drink scene in Inverness and the Highlands has really come into its own in recent years and there is a lot to be celebrated from our local producers.

“At Haim & Awa, we love nothing more than sharing our favourite local food and drink gems so the Taster of Inverness event is the perfect opportunity for all us foodies to come together and see how we can work together to showcase what our region has to offer.”

Emma Harrison, Destination Development Manager at VILN, added:

“The food and drink scene in Inverness Loch Ness is booming and, in response, VILN is delighted to bring a series of events throughout 2024 to celebrate the best of local food and drink.

“The Taster of Inverness event is the perfect way to kick things off and bring like-minded individuals, businesses and producers together to network, share learnings and discuss how we can further develop the region as a foodie destination.”
