Kate Forbes MSP has expressed her strong support for Opportunity Black Isle, which is seeking local directors to help realise the community’s ambitious vision.

Opportunity Black Isle (OBI), which is helping implement the Black Isle Local Place Plan, is looking for local residents to join them as they take the lead on enhancing community life across the Black Isle.

Their aim is for the area to become a more sustainable and resilient community, with better transport, greater opportunities and improved health and wellbeing for all.

Local MSP Kate Forbes is now calling on residents of the Black Isle to join OBI as local directors.

Ms Forbes commented:

“The Black Isle Local Place Plan is an ambitious community-owned strategy that public bodies, funders, landowners, and local organisations can all work with.

“This important plan underlines what people on the Black Isle care about, what they value, and what they want to see change.

“Today I’m encouraging anyone who wants to enhance their local community to get in touch with Opportunity Black Isle and enquire about joining their team as a local director.

“Anyone in this vital role will be at the forefront of delivering positive change for everyone who calls the Black Isle home.”

Becky, of Opportunity Black Isle, commented:

“The Black Isle Local Place Plan is the result of 18 months of extensive community led engagement with hundreds of residents across the Black Isle, who gave us their views on the future of the Black Isle.

“Throughout the engagement process, the biggest concern we heard from residents was that the content of the Plan wouldn’t make any difference to the powers that be and it would end up like many other great consultations that have taken place on the Black Isle, on the shelf.

“Ultimately it’s up to ourselves, as Black Isle residents to make sure that doesn’t happen.

“The Plan has been adopted by the Black Isle and Easter Ross Area Committee.

“It’s been registered with the Highland Council.

“Now we need to keep the Plan at the forefront of decision making.

“It won’t happen on its own and we really need some of those residents to step up and help champion the Plan.

“If you’re interested in joining a board of passionate residents, keen to advocate for the Plan we’d really like to hear from you’.
