Moray Council has confirmed the £100,000 repair works to Foths Bridge will begin from 4 October 2021.

The contract has been awarded to Geo-Structural Ltd for the reconstruction of the bridge on the C2E in Thomshill, following its closure to vehicles after a hit-and-run collision in November 2019.

The work is expected to take four to five weeks, the timescale will largely depend on weather conditions.

The bridge will also close to pedestrians during this time, with a diversion in place, before re-opening to all traffic when work is complete.

Chair of Moray Council’s Economic Growth, Housing and Environmental Sustainability Committee, Cllr Graham Leadbitter, said:

“Given the length of time the bridge has been out of commission this will be welcome news in the community.

“Committee brought the funding to complete this work forward from 2024 to this year, as we understood the importance of this link.

“I’m pleased to note the work should be finished in a relatively short space of time.

“I am grateful to our engineering team for the work in getting the design and tendering process completed and we thank the community in advance for their patience during the reconstruction works.

“Seeing this access re-open will undoubtedly be very welcome.”
