Litter picking equipment rental and disposal of waste is being offered free-of-charge to local communities.

Keep Scotland Beautiful Spring Clean Scotland campaign has kicked off, and there are events up and down the country in a bid to keep our villages, towns, countryside and beaches litter-free.

Litter picks are already in the diary in areas of Moray, including Finderne and Lossiemouth, and Moray Council is encouraging others to take part.

Moray Council’s Environmental Protection Manager, Colin Bell, said:

“Sadly litter is a year-round issue and while the overwhelming majority of people dispose of their rubbish responsibly, there are those who disregard the environment by choosing to litter.

“As we come into the longer days and welcome sunshine, it’s an opportune time to join in with the Spring Clean Scotland initiative and all play our part in keeping Moray beautiful both for residents and visitors to enjoy over the coming months.

“A huge thanks to those who have already organised litter-picks within their local communities – your support is really appreciated and helps ease the burden on our waste and open spaces crews, who can’t be everywhere at once.

“Those who are considering organising a litter pick, let us help you out.

“We’ll provide you with litter-picking equipment and bags, and we’ll dispose of any waste you collect.”

Get in touch by emailing waste@moray.gov.uk to request litter-picking equipment for your Spring Clean Scotland event, giving around a week’s notice if possible.
