Funding Opens for Rural Projects Across The Highlands

Highland Local Action Group has opened a new round of funding, offering grants of up to £10,000 for community projects across rural areas.

The scheme invites local organisations to apply for support aimed at strengthening communities and improving access to services.

Applications are now open on a rolling basis and will remain available until the fund is fully allocated.

The funding is focused on two key priority areas, with projects required to demonstrate clear and measurable outcomes.

The first priority centres on improving community assets, supporting projects that strengthen local facilities and make them more resilient, accessible and sustainable.

This includes work that helps reduce carbon impact, improves access to activities and ensures community spaces remain financially viable.

The second priority is focused on tackling inequality for children, young people and families, particularly in rural areas where isolation and access barriers remain significant challenges.

Projects under this theme must show how they will create new opportunities, reduce barriers for families experiencing poverty and improve overall wellbeing.

Grants of up to £10,000 are available, with applicants required to provide key documentation at the point of submission.

This includes a bank statement in the organisation’s name, a signed Fair Work First statement and, where relevant, details of match funding, statutory requirements and quotes for project costs.

Further guidance and examples of eligible projects are available through The Highland Council website.

The fund is designed to support practical, community led solutions, with a focus on projects that deliver real impact at a local level.

With limited funding available, organisations are being encouraged to apply early before the allocation is fully committed.

Examples of eligible projects and full application guidance can be found on the Highland Council website
