Plans have been announced for a dedicated Glasgow hub during the 2026 Commonwealth Games aimed at showcasing Scotland to the world and maximising the projected £150 million economic benefit of the event.
The Scottish Government will provide £150,000 to support Scotland House at The Corinthian in Glasgow, creating a central base for athletes, businesses and media throughout the Games.
Scotland House will be delivered in partnership with Commonwealth Games Scotland and sportscotland.
The venue will operate as a private space for Team Scotland athletes and their families, a base for business engagement and a media centre during the Games.
Open from 23 July to 2 August 2026, Scotland House will host a programme of sporting and creative industry events.
It will facilitate networking sessions and business forums designed to connect Scottish organisations with international partners.
The hub will also promote key Scottish sectors including renewable energy, fintech, tourism and food and drink.
Glasgow is expected to welcome around 3,000 athletes from 74 Commonwealth nations and territories as part of the reimagined Games.
Health Secretary Neil Gray said:
“Scotland is showing a real appetite for the Games with huge demand for tickets and the creation of Scotland House demonstrates our ambition, creativity, and commitment to build lasting partnerships.
“By bringing sport, culture and business under one roof we will ensure Glasgow 2026 delivers benefits that extend far beyond the Games.
“The Games are expected to bring more than £150 million of economic benefit, supporting local businesses and jobs.
“With many visitors expected, it gives Glasgow another chance to shine and showcase the very best of what we have to offer.
“This is an exciting international event and the Scottish Government is committed to maximising its economic opportunities while delivering a lasting sporting, social and business legacy.”
The announcement follows confirmation that Ahmedabad in India will host the 2030 Commonwealth Games.
Glasgow 2026 will act as a bridge to future Games as the event approaches its centenary.
Neil Gray added:
“The passing of the Games baton from Glasgow to Ahmedabad is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate a connection.
“I spoke with colleagues from India on how Scotland can support a successful centenary Games and to share our extensive experience of hosting major international events.
“The legacy of Glasgow 2026 is not just having a world-class event here at home but a future for the Commonwealth Games that every nation can share.”
