For years, customers leaving the Highlands with a box of Harry Gow cakes have asked the same question.

When will we be able to buy them closer to home?

Now, one of the Highlands’ best loved family businesses has its answer.

Harry Gow Bakery has launched its new Sharing Cake Range in 50 Asda stores across Scotland, taking its famous scratch baked cakes beyond the Highlands in one of the biggest milestones in the company’s history.

The move means shoppers across Scotland can now pick up a taste of the Highlands as part of their weekly shop, while Harry Gow continues baking the way it always has, from scratch using quality ingredients rather than pre mixed recipes.

For many people, Harry Gow has become much more than a bakery.

Whether it is the traditional stop on the journey north, a box of cakes brought home by family, or the bakery’s unmistakable Highland humour on social media, it has built a loyal following that stretches far beyond its 19 shops across the Highlands.

The national launch follows another remarkable year for the Inverness based business after it was crowned Scottish Baker of the Year 2026 for a record breaking third time, with no other bakery having won the title twice, while also taking home five of the eleven national product awards.

David Gow, Managing Director at Harry Gow Bakery, said:

“We’ve had customers asking us for years when they would be able to buy Harry Gow outside the Highlands.

“The challenge was finding the right opportunity to take Harry Gow further.

“We’ve always believed that if we put our name on something, it has to be done properly.

“That means no pre-mix, we still bake from scratch, we still care about the ingredients, and we still believe cake should taste like it came from a bakery, not a production line.

“Launching our new Sharing Cake Range with Asda Scotland is a huge moment for our family business.

“It means more people across Scotland can enjoy a taste of Harry Gow, while we continue doing things the way we always have.

“The cakes are made for sharing, but we suspect there may be a few friendly debates around who gets the last slice.”

The new Sharing Cake Range includes the bakery’s much loved Vanilla Raspberry Slice alongside two new flavours, Lemon and Butterscotch, with each cake created for sharing while maintaining the same bakery standards customers have come to expect.

The cakes will be available in Asda stores across Scotland from 23 July, priced at £4.25.
