Highland bakery chain Harry Gow has launched a month long fundraiser in support of the mental health charity Mikeysline, with special bee themed cupcakes on sale throughout March.

Customers visiting any Harry Gow bakery or counter across the Highlands and Moray can purchase the cupcakes, with all proceeds going directly to support Mikeysline’s work across the region.

The campaign aims to raise both vital funds and awareness for the charity, which provides confidential text based and face to face support for people experiencing emotional distress, loneliness, anxiety or crisis.

Mikeysline has become one of the Highlands’ most recognised mental health support organisations, offering services that many people turn to during some of the most difficult moments of their lives.

Harry Gow said the fundraiser reflects the bakery’s commitment to supporting the communities it serves across the Highlands and Islands.

David Gow, Director of Harry Gow, said:

“We’re very proud to stand alongside Mikeysline this March.

“The support they provide across the Highlands is incredibly vital in so many ways.

“For some people, reaching out to Mikeysline can be the first step in a very difficult moment, and in most cases that first step changes everything.

“Mental health doesn’t just sit on the sidelines of a community, it affects families, friends, colleagues and neighbours.

“And the truth is, most of us probably know someone who has struggled, even if we don’t always see it.

“For us, this is about helping make sure that when someone does reach out, there’s someone there to answer.

“As part of this fundraiser, every cupcake sold will go directly to Mikeysline so they can continue that work.

“We just hope people will come together this March to support something that truly matters across the Highlands.”

Mikeysline said support from local businesses plays a crucial role in allowing the charity to continue providing its services across the region.

Emily Stokes, Chief Executive of Mikeysline, said:

“The demand for mental health support across the Highlands is very real, and it doesn’t slow down.

“Support like this helps us continue to be there for people when they reach out, often at a point where they feel they have nowhere else to turn.

“Every penny raised will go directly into keeping our services running and accessible, and we’re hugely thankful to Harry Gow and everyone who chooses to take part.

“It really does send a powerful message that our communities are willing to look out for one another.”

The bee themed cupcakes will be available in Harry Gow bakeries and counters across the region throughout March while stocks last.

Harry Gow, headquartered in Inverness, operates 19 bakery shops across the Highlands and Moray and also supplies fresh bakes and cakes to Co op stores throughout the region.

The company made history as the first Scottish winner of the Baker of the Year award and remains the only bakery to have received the title twice.

More recently the bakery also attracted attention across Scotland and beyond after creating what was widely recognised as the world’s largest empire biscuit.
