Highland Wildlife Park has invited the public to help choose names for its adorable snow leopard cub twins after their first health check confirmed they are a healthy boy and girl.

The cubs, who were born earlier this year, continue to delight visitors as they become more confident exploring their surroundings at the Cairngorms attraction.

Following their latest veterinary examination, keepers have confirmed the pair are thriving and are now asking animal lovers to vote for their favourite names.

The Royal Zoological Society of Scotland has shortlisted three pairs of names, each inspired by the landscapes of the snow leopard’s natural home across Central and South Asia.

The choices are Indra and Tama, Tamur and Nura, or Annapurna and Tara.

Voting is now open through Highland Wildlife Park’s Facebook and Instagram pages and will remain open until the evening of Monday 3 August.

The winning names will be revealed on Tuesday 4 August.

Snow leopards are classified as vulnerable in the wild, with habitat loss, climate change and poaching continuing to threaten their future across the mountain ranges of Central and South Asia.

Highland Wildlife Park plays an important role in international conservation breeding programmes, helping to safeguard the future of threatened species while raising awareness of the challenges they face in the wild.

The arrival of the cubs has been one of the park’s most popular recent additions, attracting visitors from across Scotland eager to catch a glimpse of the playful pair.

Visitors hoping to see the cubs during the summer holidays are encouraged to book tickets online in advance.

The public can cast their votes for the cubs’ names through Highland Wildlife Park’s official social media channels before voting closes on Monday evening.
