A new road order, which covers the entire year, has been created to detail the dates on which Inverness’s Infirmary Bridge will be closed to the public in 2023.
Although the order covers the period from 10.30am on Sunday 12 March 2023 until 00.01 on Friday 1 March 2024 the bridge will only be closed at specific times as specified below:

Etape Loch Ness – 05:00 hours to 16:00 hours on Sunday 23 April 2023
Cancer Research UK, Race for Life 5K & 10K Events – 08:00 hours to 13:30 hours on Sunday 14 May 2023
The Gathering Event – 10:00 hours on Saturday 27 May 2023 to 08:00 hours on Sunday 28 May 2023
LCC Live (Bught Park concert) – 13:00 hours to midnight on Saturday 1 July 2023
CC Live (Bught Park concert) – 16:00 hours to midnight on Sunday 2 July 2023
Inverness Highland Games – 09:00 hours to 20:00 hours on Saturday 15 July 2023
Highland Pride 2023 – 14:00 hours to 21:00 hours on Saturday 22 July 2023
Loch Ness Marathon, River Ness 10K And River Ness 5K Events – 08:30 hours to 17:00 hours on Sunday 1 October 2023
Inverness Bonfire and Fireworks Display – 16:00 hours to 20:00 hours on Sunday 5 November 2023
Remembrance Day Parade – 13:00 hours to 17:00 hours on Sunday 12 November 2023
Inverness Red Hot Highland Fling (Hogmanay Event) – 19:00 hours on Sunday 31 December 2023 to 02:00 hours on Monday 1 January 2024.
The bridge requires to be closed during such events in order to protect public safety and prevent serious damage which could be caused to the footbridge if used by large numbers of people during events held on public roads or venues nearby.
Footpath Closed signs will be installed during closures.
An alternative route will be available using Ness Walk Upper, Bishops Road, Ardross Terrace, Ness Walk, the Ness Bridge, Castle Road and the Ness Bank and Cavell Gardens Road.
