Highland Council Expands Public Consultation on Visitor Levy

The Highland Council has added new dates to its public consultation events on the proposed Visitor Levy Scheme.

Additional sessions will take place in Portree and Kinlochbervie.

The consultation has seen strong engagement so far, with many attending to ask questions and learn more about the proposal.

Council Convenor Bill Lobban thanked those who have participated and welcomed the extra dates to ensure as many voices as possible are heard.

He emphasised the importance of inclusivity in capturing a fair representation of opinions from all communities.

The Public Library Community Drop-in Events provide an informal setting where residents can discuss the scheme with council staff.

Attendees can ask questions and use on-site public computers to complete the online consultation if needed.

The upcoming library sessions are as follows.

Fortrose Community Library – 19 February 2025, 10:00–12:00.

Fort William Library – 26 February 2025, 11:00–13:00.

Ullapool Community Library – 27 February 2025, 11:00–13:00.

Brora Library – 28 February 2025, 10:30–12:30.

Additional drop-in events will be held at.

Kyle of Lochalsh Service Point – 20 February 2025, 11:00–13:00.

Kinlochbervie Harbour Officer – 17 March 2025, 11:30–13:30.

A formal Community In-person Event will take place on the Isle of Skye on 14 March.

This session will feature a presentation from council staff, followed by a Q&A.

The event will be held at the Skye Candle Visitor Centre in Portree from 2:00–3:30pm.

Industry-led discussions on business-related aspects of the levy are also scheduled.

Chambers of Commerce have publicised details of these sessions, where council staff will be present to address concerns.
