The Bulky Uplift Service has been re-instated from yesterday, Monday 20 July 2020, the service was suspended on the 23rd March due to the COVID-19 National Emergency and the need to prioritise staff to provide essential waste and recycling collections.

Householders can book the Bulky Uplift Service online by clicking here

Or by calling The Highland Council Service Centre on 01349 886603.

The Council’s website shows the items acceptable for collection and customers are advised to check the list before considering booking a collection.

Black bag waste is not accepted.

The service, which is for household waste only, needs to be booked at least 2 days in advance of when you would like your items collected, and there are set collection days for locations across the Highland region.

The cost for the service is £23.37 for up to 3 items or £46.73 for up to 6 items.

Councillor Allan Henderson, Chair of the Council’s Communities and Places Committee said:

“I’m pleased we are now in a position to bring back the Bulky Uplift Service.

“We now have the staff and resources to be able to return this service in accordance with health and safety guidelines, after it was affected by the restrictions associated with COVID-19.

“This is another key service being reintroduced to help the public manage their waste as we continue on our journey to recovery.”

He continued:

“If you have large items at home such as sofas and wooden furniture that you no longer need and are still in good condition, these could be donated to a charity for reuse rather than collected for disposal.

“Check with your local charity for details on the items they accept.”

All items listed at the time of booking should be presented at your usual bin collection point by 7 a.m. on the morning of your scheduled collection day.

We are unable to collect items from gardens, sheds or garages.

Collection crews are not permitted to enter properties to remove waste.

To help reduce the risk of the spread of Coronavirus site staff will be adopting robust hygiene standards.

The Bulky Uplift Service can be booked using the online form which can be found on the Highland Council website

Alternatively, customers can book by calling the Highland Council Service Centre on 01349 886603.
