Highland Wildlife Park’s much loved snow leopard cub twins have officially been named Indra and Tama after thousands of people took part in a public vote.

The Royal Zoological Society of Scotland invited supporters to choose from three pairs of names inspired by the landscapes of the snow leopard’s natural home in Central and South Asia, with Indra and Tama emerging as the clear favourites.

Indra is a male Nepalese name, while Tama is one of the rivers that forms part of the Koshi river system.

The twin cubs, affectionately described as “double trouble” by the wildlife park, continue to thrive alongside their mother, Pari.

The playful pair recently received a clean bill of health during their first health check and are becoming increasingly confident as they explore more of their habitat.

As well as venturing further afield, Indra and Tama have also begun eating solid food under Pari’s watchful eye, marking another important milestone in their development.

The arrival of the twins has delighted visitors to Highland Wildlife Park, with the public vote giving supporters the chance to play a small part in the cubs’ story.

The Royal Zoological Society of Scotland says visitors can now see Indra and Tama at the park, where the inquisitive youngsters continue to grow in confidence as they discover the world around them.
