One of Inverness’s best‑known venues is up for sale, marking the potential end of an era on the city’s riverside nightlife scene.
Johnny Foxes & The Den, a lively combination of pub, restaurant and nightclub, has been a fixture on the banks of the River Ness for more than 28 years.
Opened in 1997 by Don Lawson, the venue is famed for live music seven nights a week, hearty food and what many regulars describe as the best craic in the city.
Its overall capacity of around 520 people spans an Irish‑themed pub and restaurant as well as The Den, Inverness’s only nightclub.
For years it has been seen as a must‑visit for locals and visitors alike, with many saying no trip to Inverness is complete without stopping by.
The city itself continues to draw thousands of visitors each year, with attractions including the soon‑to‑reopen Inverness Castle, the Ness Islands and nearby Loch Ness adding to its appeal.
Specialist business property adviser Christie & Co has been instructed to market the sale, with business agent Simon Watson leading the process.
“Being a frequent visitor to Inverness over the past 25 years, I have always enjoyed a night in Foxes,” he said.
“I am very excited to work on behalf of Don Lawson and his team to market Johnny Foxes and The Den, without doubt one of the most iconic and exciting opportunities on the Scottish hospitality scene.
“We are confident that there will be no shortage of interest.”
The remaining 25 years of the venue’s lease are available to purchase, with price on application.
