Beatrice Wishart has today been sworn in as Shetland’s MSP in a ceremony in the Scottish Parliament, following her re-election on Thursday 6 May.

Ms Wishart attended the Scottish Parliament to take an affirmation, which formally confirms her appointment as the Member of the Scottish Parliament for Shetland.

Commenting following the ceremony, Ms Wishart said:

“I am hugely grateful to have the endorsement of the people of Shetland once again.

“It’s a privilege to represent and serve the place I call home, and the people I love.

“I’m grateful for every single vote that made this happen.

“Working for recovery must be the focus of this parliament, and it won’t be an easy task.

“I will ensure Shetland has a voice in Holyrood at every stage of that process.

“I also look forward to continuing the work I started following my first election eighteen months ago.

“From standing up against HIAL’s plan to centralise Shetland’s air traffic control, to working to tackle fuel poverty and the climate emergency, it’s safe to say there is plenty to be getting on with.

“So please do reach out with problems, worries or concerns.

“I’m here to help.”
